'In some melodious plot / Of beechen green, and shadows numberless'---John Keats, Hampstead poet, Ode to a Nightingale
WELCOME to the official website for Hampstead Horticultural Society. We hold flower shows, arrange horticultural lectures and organise coach outings to interesting gardens. See upcoming programme of events.
Membership of the society is open to anyone with or wanting to acquire 'green fingers' who lives in Hampstead (as did John Keats, see above) and its environs in north-west London, UK. We encourage both experienced and novice amateur gardeners to cultivate vegetables, fruit and flowers, and to exchange ideas.
Our yearly activites include:
Two horticultural shows with competition classes for flowers, shrubs, plants, vegetables, fruit, flower arrangements and cookery
Two illustrated talks at Burgh House in Hampstead
Social events and plant sales
Discount bulb sales - exclusive to HHS members
Please come to the AGM: 2.30pm on Sunday 10 March at Burgh House, Hampstead. We have to appoint committee members for the coming year, including a new Chairman and a new Secretary.
Please consider either joining the committee or supporting the society in some other way as a volunteer - see the January 2013 Newsletter (click the button above) for ideas.
See our Calendar (click the button above) for details of our 2013 shows, plant sales, talks, prize-giving, AGM, London events, day coach trips on 16 May and 7 July, and our four-day trip to Loire valley gardens and the Chaumont Festival 21 - 24 June.
